Oh my god: Rag & Bone A/W 2012

This new collection is on another level. I am not using this term loosely, but rather, to actually draw your attention to the level of detail in each layer of every piece. Look closely and try to take it in. It's overwhelming -- in a good way. From the fabrics to the prints (look at them!) to the unexpected metallic detailing, this almost doesn't even seem like the same company except for the fact that they are true to their causal yet tailored classic point of view. It somehow balances edgy details with what feels like a really comfy sweater. Can this get any better? I just really can't believe that I will be seeing clothes at their price range on racks this upcoming fall. It's hard to imagine what these pieces will really look and feel like in person. I just cannot wait. Also, some of the photos suggest that they are coming out with handbags and new shoe shapes. Hats off to you Rag & Bone for a new chapter in your brand.

P.S. Your stylist is a badass with a belt. For real.

Prabal Gurung A/W 2012 Recap

Blue is the operative color in Prabal Gurung's new collection. It's on the patterns, prints, eyelids, and within the seams (last look.) I love this collection because it mixes in sheer, shiny and fuller fabrics that accentuate the bold contrast between the colors, shapes, and incredibly detailed silhouettes. While I don't love his first few looks, I think that I'm attached to his more established-shapes from previous collections. I think that for some reason, I was attracted to these incredibly artful and statement dresses that scream something beyond ready-to-wear. It's an ambitious visual and constructive effort that's both safe and imaginative at the same time.

Alexander Wang A/W 2012 Recap

I think Alex's new collection is refreshingly structural. I think that it's nice to see him return to some of his harder looks, although he's still incorporating this very "sporty" feel through the mesh fabrics. While I'm not the biggest fan of the latter, I love what he's doing with the asymmetrical lines and juxtaposition of fabrics in unexpected places. It seems to work -- all of the textures would be amazing pieces accessorized and energized with your own color palette this fall.

Brooklyn-based Margarita Saplala designs a contemporary, playful feminine collection with original artwork and prints. In New York City, the collection is available at Sucre, Otto and A. Cheng, Margarita Saplala was born in Manila, Philippines, before moving to Chicago with her family at the age of 2, where she ultimately studied fashion design at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago. It took 17 years before Margarita returned to Manila, and ever since makes regular trips to visit family and learn about the culture.

The uniqueness of Margarita Saplala’s prints reflects her fondness for the colorful memories from her many trips to the Philippines. She loves playing with colors and she gets a creative feed from the environment during her visits to the Philippines, “ you see a lot of beautiful embroidery, colorful tribal costumes and Manila is just bustling with color” Margarita explains. “I always loved color and I mix my memories with new topics that interests me”.

Spring Summer 2012 Inspiration:

This collection is inspired by the magic hour. The of the day when the sun is set, but there is still light in the sky. The yellow fades and hues of pinks, oranges and blues are on the horizon. Abstract elements of the magic hour mied with island kitsch clothing result in a modern interpretation of tiki dresses and Hawaiian blouses. Blown up pineapple prints acquire a reptile texture, banana shapes create floral patterns, as repeated images of the horizon during the magic hour become hazy free flowing stripes. The silhouettes of the collection reflect the same kind of airiness captured by the prints.

Look at that amazing braid!

I live above the most amazing beauty salon. Levi, one of the owners of Paloma Beauty Parlor, recently showed me a series of photographs that is the product of the collaboration between so many creative and talented folks here in Austin. It showcases the work of hair stylist Amber Hodgson (who does AMAZING color), Evette Richards (co-owner, esthetician, and make-up artist extraordinaire), the lovely ladies over at Kick Pleat (one of my favorite boutiques here), and incredible photographer ©Nicole Mlakar (pet and lifestyle photographer to the stars). Each look features so many different and beautiful elements that I often take for granted in most fashion photos -- in this case, the contouring of the cheek, the texture of the braid, framing Kaylan's arm perfectly to showcase the bracelets on her arm, and the list goes on... These photographs are also wonderful because they take place across the street from our building before major construction goes on soon so it's a nice record of where the wild and beautiful things are.

Urban Decay Naked 2

I'm so excited that the highly anticipated Urban Decay Naked 2 palette is available online today through Sephora. As everyone knows, it sold out in 2 hours the day it was released on Urban Decay's website so I just received an email about their availability. I am just posting this to share the good news because I know I'm ordering mine today -- it has to be the only other eye shadow palette set I own other than the original Naked. The colors literally go with everything and you can do so many looks. I hear the palette is better and the packaging on this one is slightly cooler than the older velvet one. Check out the Naked and Naked 2 palettes - they are must haves if you wear eye makeup! Urban Decay has always been, since I started wearing makeup, my go-to for eyeshadows. So I'm getting Naked too.

P.S. I've only seen Naked - the original - in Sephora stores, twice, ever. I'm serious. It's the iPhone of makeup.

These gowns are mesmerizing works of couture art. I am in awe of their collection when I look at each individual dress and then see the up close detailing on different sections of the dresses. Click on the images for larger more vivid details. As for the vision behind the collection, fashionologie explains that:

"Kate and Laura Mulleavy are huge fans of Florence. “We have spent countless hours dreaming of the poetic city, every detail magnified by our own curiosity and imagination,” explains Laura. Fitting then, that they are guest designers at Pitt W in Florence this year. Today, their much anticipated Pre-Spring 2012 presentation of 10 elaborate gowns — detailed with Swarovski crystals, tulle, and feathers — was unveiled in a disused building in central Florence amongst neon light constructions.Inspired by Fra Angelico’s frescoes, the monks’ cells at the convent of San Marco, and Bernini’s The Ecstasy of Saint Teresa, the 10 dresses are also accessorized with a hand-forged gold head-piece, belts and breastplates. But what will happen to the collection after this stint in Italy? Elle confirms that following Pitti, the dresses will be on permanent display at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Marni for H&M Collaboration

If I could wear 3 designers for the rest of my life, I think it would be Marni would be at the top of the list alongside the Dries Van Noten, and Givenchy. (Risky commitment to admit this!) In case you haven't already found out on the blogosphere, Marni is doing a collaboration with H&M.

First of all, if we can get beyond the fact that it is going to be cheap and Marni - I think what I'm looking forward to the most is how the distinctive silhouettes and prints would translate into mass manufacturing. I'm actually hopeful that this collection will maintain Marni's integrity, craftsmanship, and design despite it's price range. You can see how the prints and shape of garments (such as the infamous boxy coat) scream Marni regardless of how much you have in your bank. I think I'm more excited about this collaboration than any ever!

The collection is described as: "Tribal prints mixed with colorful Bauhaus graphics: "I wanted to create a true Marni wardrobe by revisiting all our favorite pieces in signature fabrics and prints," explains Consuelo Castiglioni. "As always, I love juxtaposing prints and colors, mixing modern tribal with Bauhaus graphic adding sporty utilitarian elements."

Versace Sunglasses Dilemma

Dilemma: I am not a big fan of Versace but I'm in love with these sunglasses I found yesterday during a slight diversion, while Christmas shopping for others. They are a blend of wayfayers, cat eye style and a touch of glamour. Talk about sprucing up a boring outfit when I'm driving for hours on end in Austin!

It's the first day of chilly fall that I think will be here to stay in Austin! (Notice the wind!) I'm so excited about this new change of weather that I thought documenting my outfits would be fun to see how my style evolves. I'd like to make this blog more personal about my journeys with clothes, skin care, makeup, art and design. It's become a creative outlet for me so what better way to record it than through photo documentation.

Today, I was feeling a bit girly but wanted to wear my beloved 3.1 Phillip leather jacket (similar to the one pictured below). I always try to bring in color, texture, shine, and prints into most of my outfits. I've been in a more adventurous mood lately so I decided to bring in all of these elements.

On the subject of skin care, apparently your skin stops producing its own natural oils when you're 24 so I've been trying to actually take care of my skin. I've been pleased with the results because been on a religious skincare regime thanks to my friend best Jordan and will share some of my best tips sometime soon. I've tried almost every single brand and product you can think of from drug store to Sephora. It's costed a fortune but nothing can replace that knowledge and advice I can share with the people I love!

Drool. I have this leather jacket sans embellishment in a sienna that I wear virtually everyday. I don't own a single black leather jacket. If it ain't broke, don't fix it (the design)? How will I find a way to purchase this? When I post a single item on here, it is a commitment that I will: (1) never forget it and (2) go out of my way to find it on massive sale to purchase it somewhere at sometime (3) catalog the beautiful image for all eternity. This piece is truly an investment and I think for the quality and material with hand-beaded diamante embellishment on the arms is actually worth the money. Tis the season where my deal-obsessed side comes out. For anyone who knows me in real life, I'm a bit of a hustler when it comes to finding deals. To me, however, this perfect combination of prints and colors are difficult to nail but with these, I think Clover Canyon has done a great job. It feels causal yet dressy at the same time. Derek Lam 10 Crosby

Derek Lam's new and lower price point line 10 Crosby does nothing to disappoint. His resort and spring collections are flirty, colorful and subtly well tailored. His use of colors on the models outfits juxtaposed with their larger posters in the background gives us a sense of his collection's vision. I think this is an instance in which a lower price point line by a designer manages to make it younger, more bohemian and more affordable without sacrificing the color prints, jackets and femininity his signature label is known for. I have to say, after looking at Derek Lam's signature collection, I don't see much of a difference except for the price point and materials. In fact, I may like the vibe of 10 crosby more!

I've definitely been on an Alex Wang kick lately. With fall/winter coming up, I just feel that Alex Wang's edginess is more appropriate than during the summer. Can we just take a minute here to take in the wool + leather combo of this large Emile tote? This wool tote features lizard-embossed leather trim and a logo plate at the side. The shape is so luxe and the materials and textures bring it to a whole new level.

This Lydia Clutch in Blush is too darling with the rabbit tails. I mean, can you imagine this with a black dress or all monochromatic outfit? It's sick.

The Marion Sling Bag: gorgeous everyday cross body bag. Just the perfect size with the perfect amount of hard wear. It's just so cute and I would feel special to take it out on the town or just to the store.

And lastly, I would use my $100 dollars towards the Giant Prisma Haircalf Cltuch. It is truly out of control amazing to-die-for clutch in calf hair framed with silver hardware. It really is just what I want for Christmas. It dress up causal and brings edge to formal. I don't have anything like it for the season and get this: that bottom vertical square on the right hand side is AN IPHONE HOLDER. I mean, genius. Talk about travelling (smartly) and lightly. Done and done.

Alyson Fox: A Shade of Red

Since I saw her work featured at the Austin Museum of Art, my admiration for Alyson Fox's work has been a consistent theme in my blog and her recent project is a testament to why I believe she is an up-and-coming artist of our generation. Her new book, A Shade of Red, documents a collectivity of women who don the same red lipstick. Like most, I was intrigued with the idea of what shade of red she chose for these women and what kind of spectrum of women she photographed. While a book of centered around red lipstick is consistent with her feminine aesthetic, this project pushes the envelope intellectually through it's connection with historical tragedy. When I visited the website, I felt overwhelmingly connected with the book when reading the artist's statement; it offers the first epithet:

It was shortly after the British Red Cross arrived, though it may have no connection, that a very large quantity of lipstick arrived…Women lay in bed with no sheets and no nightie but with scarlet red lips, you saw them wandering about with nothing but a blanket over their shoulders, but with scarlet red lips….That lipstick started to give them back their humanity.

– Colonel Gonin (commenting on the liberation of the Bergen-Belson concentration camp.)

As a student in critical theory, her project resonated with my continual interest in the human condition through literature, history, and art. I'd be interested to find out more about how she encountered Colonel Gonin's commentary on WWII concentration camps, since the Holocaust is a subject that has deeply affected me since I was a child. Alyson offers us an opportunity to think about femininity in connection to humanity and moreso, cosmetic resilience in face of unfathomable suffering.

In addition, her reference to Roland Barthes urges me to think more deeply about the exhibitionist and aesthetic choices we make each day and how this perhaps unknowingly connects with a diverse community of women. I believe Alyson Fox describes her project most poignantly when she writes in the statement: "These photographs have shown me that posing for someone, or 'making' yourself up are not about vanity or superficiality, but about connection, about 'humanity' as Colonel Gonin says [...] [I]n the end, I think we were brought together by two twin desires: One, the lure of the lipstick, of the chance to become ourselves by becoming someone else, and two, the desire to connect with people and be part of something." I think it was a brilliant move on Alyson's part to bring together something that everyday women can connect with (red lipstick or Revlon’s #740 Certainly Red to be exact) and as a result, form an even larger community of women who "desire to connect with people and be part of something" on our blogs and in our lives.

Yes this blog has seemingly become dedicated to the letters: PS1. When will it end? Maybe when I will write a book about it.

Lately I've found myself wishing for a smaller midsize bag to carry little things around on a daily basis. Let's be real the Pandora is for hoarding things and the Diego feels like you're hoarding metal studs. My midnight blue PS1 large is big and beautiful but it serves the same purpose as the givenchy with greater consequences for my level of crap. I have 3 kinds of protein bars in my bag? Why? I don't even eat protein bars.

So Barneys in Northpark Dallas is having a charity event on Friday to benefit the Scottish Rite Children's Hospital and you get 20% off your entire purchase. 10% goes to charity. Vintage Shopping with Sunny at Blue Velvet

Last weekend when Sunny was in Austin, we went vintage shopping at Blue Velvet and now I'm hooked. I'm severely allergic to indoor dust and mold but it was worth it for this beaded glamour jacket. I can't wait to wear it out some night soon... I think Rachel Zoe is infiltrating my brain. I know she's a polarizing figure for lots of reasons but I accept her for who she is, drama and all, and love her for it.

Erin & Aaron's Urban Cabin/Lost & Found Austin Home

Awhile back, Apartment Therapy featured the gorgeous renovated "urban cabin & lost and
found" home of my boyfriend's friend and colleague, Aaron Dubrow and his artist wife, Erin
Curtis. Apartment Therapy titled their post: "Erin's Warm & Wood-Wrapped Austin Bungalow," which I think nailed the aesthetic and ambiance of their home. The bungalow was a labor of love from so many talented people including their architect, Nicole Blair at Studio 512, Habitat for Humanity Restore, contractors Mike Phalan and Shawn Rodriguez, wood-workers (trained artists in their own right) and of course, their parents. Although I'm yet to see it in person, I've used the photos as inspiration for decorating my own apartment. I especially love their mis-matched bar stools and (forgive me for using the word) "ethnic" prints and textiles. The colors are warm yet balanced with cooler shades that complement all of the textures and prints throughout the home. I'm a sucker for books as decor and clearly, Aaron and Erin's choice to create built-in bookshelves into their staircase and throughout the home reflects their intellectual and artistic sensibilities.

Of course the custom-made staircase, built out of old doors, is the centerpiece of the whole home. They worked with architect Nicole Blair to create this recycled masterpiece. The way they laid out the blocks of wood, mixing in white/lighter and darker woods, give this staircase both a modern yet more settled, rustic feel. I'm also in awe of their use of geometric shapes created by the ceilings in their loft area -- it's amazing what paint, light and prints can do to a warm wooden room. Before seeing this bungalow, to be completely honest, I've never been a fan of rustic style homes, the color brown, or wholly wooden interiors, but these renovations and the decor have completely changed my view of what you can do with any space that you've invested in making your own. Erin and Aaron have managed to accomplish something that few homeowners ever venture to do: strip a home down, recycle parts and turn it into the (very difficult to achieve) perfect balance of rustic, modern yet playful.

This weekend, my dear from Sunny from Philadelphia came to visit me in Austin. It was a long-awaited reunion and I've had the best time since she's been here. Sunny is a bit of a fashion maven and she hit Austin by storm. (Literally, it rained here for the first time in months, which ushered in Fall.) Since she's been here, I've felt lucky to meet and spend time with a few people including the amazing ladies at Paloma Beauty Salon, Spa and Gallery and pick up a beautiful piece from artist, Caitlin Sweet.

Paloma Beauty is owned by Yvette Richardson and Levi Dugat. It's one of my favorite spaces in all of Austin because they put so much effort into making it more than just a salon and spa. They put their hearts and souls in the finding the best best colorists and hair stylists (Thanks to the hair extraordinaire Kate Gibson!). And luckily, I live above them, which makes my life even better. A.L.C. Fur Front Jacket

I saw this A.L.C. Fur Front Jacket within the first few seconds I walked into Barneys Co-op the other day. It was the only thing I saw the entire time I browsed through the racks. I tried it on and the collar pops perfectly and the fur is strategically placed so that it doesn't make you look bulkier. It is on my unachievable wish list for fall. It is too good for words, I mean, look at it.

Who What Wear: Rebecca Minkoff

Today, Who What Wear featured Rebecca Minkoff's new fall collection as a line they love. I think the pieces are chosen thoughtfully and create a cohesive vision of the glamour and chic opulence of fall. I don't typically love Minkoff but I have to admit, this collection is to die for.

Burberry Spring Summer 2012

If you can overlook the hats, this collection delivers layers and layers of rich yet bright textures, colors and prints. I especially love the beaded detailing on the collars, belts and shoes. This collection features killer shoes and jackets. I will probably never buy a Burberry piece because of their price but this collection makes it tempting because it feels like a departure from their usual classic trench pieces that are desperately being "reinvented."

Jen Kao Spring/Summer 2012

I love the extreme juxtaposition of the multi-textured, insane prints, and layering of Jen Kao's S/S 2012 collection. While on the surface this collection may not be the most cohesive, I actually appreciate the explosive creativity and beautiful craftsmanship (especially of the cut-outs) in each and everyone the pieces. They remind me of the exuberant promise of spring in refreshing bloom.

Target was insane today! I got the loot I looked for except for the ever coveted throw. After driving to five Targets, I got the colored rolling suitcase, a baby blanket, a serving tray, and the piece above. When I saw this serving dish, I knew it was perfect for our dining room table.

Prabal Gurung: S/S 2012

The first look in this collection is just perfect; it reminds me of a glamourous scorpion princess tea party dress. The collection's colors, patterns, sheer fabric overlay and bold accents make this collection a breath of fresh air when thinking of fall. This RTW line definitely feels like it's pushing the boundaries and I LOVE it. I'm glad to see Prabal take this chance to explore the artistic limitations of his more conventional and safe pieces in previous collections.

"Inspired by Araki's Sensual Flowers series, he collaborated with a printmaker in London to create a floral motif at once beautiful and lurid: Close inspection of the purple, green, and black blooms revealed that they were already withering. The engineered print appeared on everything from a silk georgette dress, accessorized with a black leather and silk cord harness, to a fitted wool pantsuit, neither that unlike things he's done before. But when he wasn't using the print, Gurung was tweaking fetish materials—hand-painting and lacquering latex for a coat, or lining a laser-cut leather T-shirt in mesh. It was more than a lot to take in. Loving Derek Lam and so are the critics! From style.com: Derek Lam's inspiration comes from,"Richard Neutra's Kaufmann House in Palm Springs: 'Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack crooning by the piano and Angie Dickinson lounging by a crystal-blue pool. Mid-century louche and luxury.'" For me, a long-awaited tour de force by a designer from whom I've always sensed great potential.

The design inspiration is a perfect example of how architectural and fashion design intersect and what emerges from it is an interpretation that creates a dialogue between different creative fields.

Above are the the things I wish I had known and brought with me & below is the reason why.

So... last year, I had the brilliant idea to go to Barneys for FNO with my best friend, who lives near Columbia. We got dressed up, splurged on a cab, showed up, and then accidentally (and I mean accidentally) stood in a crowd of about 200 teenagers waiting for Mary Kate and Ashley to show up. I don't know why we did it - we sort of just stood there wondering what was happening and then before I knew it, I was surrounded by a crowd of girls wearing Jonas Brothers' bracelets. So maybe that's the spirit of Fashion's Night Out, anyone can show up to anything.

"But why didn't you leave?," you ask. Well, I don't know if it's just me but FNO sets up expectations that something incredibly fashionable will happen to you tonight. For me, however, the consequence of fulfilling this small expectation was standing still -- on principle alone -- in 6 inch Finsk wedges for about 2 hours waiting for MKA. (Oddly enough, I didn't even really care to see them, I was just determined to benefit from the time I had already wasted waiting for them.) It seemed like there was no A/C in the room, I was sweating, dehydrated, my feet were swollen, and on the verge of passing out. All the while, Tavi, Simon, Liya, Karlie, and others made appearances to calm the masses but it ended in a teenage riot. After that night, I promised myself that I would never again do FNO. But you know what they say: what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Since I'm in Texas now, I would kill to do FNO again so for those of you attending, here are the few items I wish I had to get me through the night! Hailey Steinfeld & Miu Miu A/W 2011 Accessories

Okay, everyone under the moon has already put these on your radar but I'm jumping on the bandwagon and showing them to you anyway -- in the event that you've missed them on the blogosphere. The ad campaign features Hailey Steinfeld from True Grit, and follows the trend of featuring young teenage girls for ad campaigns. (Think Dakota and Elle Fanning for Marc Jabobs.) I personally love how kitschy these glittery pieces are but I don't know if I'd buy them. I don't see a longevity here; although to be fair, Miu Miu's shoes are collector pieces more than anything. Still Miu Miu always sets the most coveted shoes of the season and I love what their creativity brings to the industry. They are sort of love/hate.

I love the eclecticism and the presentation of these pieces with the textiles and colors! I thought it would just be lovely to share the entire Spring/Summer lookbook. It's literally been a HELLISH 100+ degrees for the last 75 days in Austin and looking forward into Fall fashion is a bit of a bittersweet feeling. These pieces give me something to think about outside of a boring boring outfit to brave the heat and sweat. Madewell Maxiskirt Faceoff: Help!

Which skirt do you like better? Long skirts have been my recent "thing" and I think the ones that fit and flow best are at madewell. These two new skirts have come out this season and I can't decide on which one to get? On one hand, the galaxy one is perfect because it is monochromatic with a print so I can wear it with any color and on the other hand, the stripes on the gallerist skirt is so refined yet bold. I can't decide! Which one would you get and what would you wear it with?

Yigal Azrouël's new contemporary brand concept line, Cut25, combines -- what the line claims is -- "high fashion with day-to-day simplicity. The design sensibility is democratic...[and it's] inherent appeal lies in the artisanal approach to design and the philosophy that unique and innovative fashion can be offered to those who seek it." I think the prices are pretty high but the pieces warrant that to some extent, especially that beautiful coat posted in picture #1. I think Cut25 offers accessibility to stylish people but the price tag is steep enough that is can only be offered to those who really really seek it. Steven Alan Fall Lookbook

Steven Alan's new Fall look book is a reflection of how my style has been evolving lately. It's been going the direction of a little more classic preppy but always with touch of bohemian through a print. I used to wear monochrom but this fall, I think I'm going to take a step on the wild side and stay with my "print" phase. I'm swooning over that leopard top and that stripped coat - I'm waiting for Steven Alan to drop their fall collection on their site! Now, it's just just a matter of waiting for the weather to drop from 107 degrees everyday until November... I dream of fall.

I've been on the market for a digital SLR lately because I thought it would be nice for the blog and for capturing and collecting memories. I saw this baby down here and it made me swoon for all the trendy nostalgic reasons the body of a camera can. It's $1500 and completely ridiculous for it's price but I wanted to share it anyway.

Also, I'm seriously looking at a Canon EOS Rebel T3i, any thoughts? Also, any suggestions for lenses that would be great for street fashion and portraits? I'm sorta a newbie when it comes to these things and I miss seeing the the world through a viewfinder.

I think this quote succinctly expresses why people are attached to the ebbs and flows of fashion. Yes, you can say we're pretentious, materialistic, image-obsessed, and vain but to be honest, that's our "armor to survive the reality of everyday life" -- and who can judge what we all must do to survive? I would really like to see this documentary about the enigmatic Bill Cunningham, the Original Street Photographer. His vision and influence on the fashion industry is undeniable. Rodebjer AW11 Lookbook

I've been in love with Rodebjer since I saw a navy dress similar to photo #3 but backwards at Bows + Arrows in Austin. I recently got to see their Fall/Winter look book and it's really wearable. Here's a description of the collection:

Givenchy Pandora Knockoff: Such a Bad Thing?

Spotted at Tobi.com: Joia's "Day to Night Bag" has shamelessly ripped off Givenchy's Pandora bag in PVC and it might not be such a horrible thing in my opinion. I'm sure Givenchy feels otherwise in terms of intellectual property.

Look, I have Givenchy's Pandora in black and if I could only have one bag for the rest of my life, that would be it. It's greatest strength is it's unique and practical design. So, if you like the Pandora's shape and functionality, and don't want to break the bank then I won't blame you if you buy this bag since it's $68. I know most people will never be willing to drop $2k on a bag and I personally think that the Pandora's shape is so great that it should be shared.

I, however, can't vouch for how long Joia's version will last whereas I'll bet (even more money than I've already spent) that Givenchy's version is going to last me a long long time and it's worthwhile.

Kate Moss's Leopard Print Fitted Blazer

"help me please my uber shopper friend!"

This morning, I opened my email to receive a delightful request from Rebecca, a dear and gorgeous friend of mine, who has been channeling uber-model Kate Moss lately. Since we are all, on some level, indebted to Kate Moss's style as a tastemaker, my friend is obsessed and rightfully so.

Immediately, the thought that she would request my help was very flattering because I've always admired her effortless style and beauty. She wanted my help finding a version of this leopard fur blazer. Thinking Kate Moss lead me immediately to British stores: Topshop.com, and us.asos.com, which offered some promising leads. However, I also began to expand my options to Urban Outfitters and then just took a quick gander at: shopstyle.com.

Although I was half asleep when I did this, I got such a rush helping someone else out. These emails come occasionally and I will literally sit comatose for hours to hunt down the perfect item for a friend. (Last time, it was an affordable black leather bag under 1k - which led me to insane choices like this miu miu bag.) It has become clear to me: I'm obsessed with finding someone else's obsession. I think I'm honestly more excited working as someone's "personal shopper" than I am shopping for myself. It's invigorating to share my random knowledge of clothes with others. (Is that how people most relate to me, or vice versa?)

So that got me thinking: Do you, reader, have that thing in mind that you've been dying to find but just cannot locate? Given my obsession with personal shopping, I began to think that accepting requests for things/looks from readers (even in a certain price range) would be so fun!
